This is a blog about our mum - Mary Jemutai Maiyo.
Mum lived a life full of happiness, love and sometimes that wasn't the case. She preferred to see the glass half full than half empty. My brother Ian and I got to collect so much materials, stories that we would love to share. Maybe one day put it into a book!
I will write starting with current events and as you scroll down, you will be going through her past. Share what you have to and lets keep her legacy going. LOVE YOU MAMA!!
MAY 2014
Alois came to join you mum. He was like a father to you. Sure you guys will continue watching over us. Much love
Before I forget mummy, Kim's tooth is loose and you should see how proud he is. Yesterday as I took him to bed, he told me how he missed you. It is pretty hard to comfort him while I at the same time have the same feelings. But we bonded and prayed with you. We love you mummy.
NOVEMBER 27/2013
Today marks exactly 2 months since mama went into her deep sleep. I have been thinking a lot about you today and always very thankful for having you as our mum. I miss calling you though, but I see and hear you. Love you mum and keep watching over us. Kim talks so much about you and sometimes I laugh at the comments he makes about you. Big hugs and kisses. Your kids!

I mentioned about mamas ringtone. It's a song that will keep ringing in your head. Click to play!
My friends and I organised a memorial for mama here in Vienna, Austria. I was amazed at the turnout. There were many people who showed up who did not know mummy, and others I had even forgotten that had met her while she was in Austria. Below you will see some photos and a couple of videos from the loving words they had to share. I am awed!
Here is the video...just click to play!
MARCH 2013
Mama is back in hospital, at the intensive care. She got infection in her lungs and acidosis. She is much better today. I believe in her and believe in what she believes, she will be fine. Love you mummy
The video below is not professionally made, but I had fun - pedicure and manicure on mummy
I went to Kenya in early March 2013, mama was really ill, but was out of ICU by the time I got there. My brother Ian told me, that he whispered to her ear while at ICU that Chero was gonna be coming (this was two days before I arrived), the unbelievable happened: She all of a sudden sat up and said that she won't let me see her in that condition. Her doctors were really impressed by her improvement and moved her back to the normal ward. I found her smiling and cracking jokes (the mama I know). I was always at the hospital for the five days that I stayed in Kenya with my brother Ian and his Fiance Naomi. Naomi has been such a great help and inspiration to our family. She came in and fit perfectly. Mama loves her as her own. We love you too!!! Less that five days after I left, she was released and she went back home.

| MY Mummy!!! |
Everytime I call her (Kenya) there is no ringtome but music in the background. The music she has is so beautiful that I could listen to for minutes, then comes her voice, what a wonderful voice...My mother is one charming lady (guess everyone would say the same about their own)...I miss her greatly (thanks to the distance) and how I would love to see her.....hopefully soon :-) One more semester to go.
My son (Kim) is one great admirer of my mum (excuse my English), in Kindergarten, when other kids talk about their mums, this is the conversation : (adapted)
Kindergarten kid: My grannie visits me so often
Kim: Mine not (german translation) how does your grannie come to you?
Kindergarten kid: She drives with the car---(German!)
Kim: Oh well! My grannie come with the plane! ;-) (Boasting)
Kindergarten kid: ahmm......
Kim: And you know what! she speaks English too ;-)
Kim saw grannie when he was 1.5 and almost 3 but he has a good memory of her. And! oh the things he creates.....My Kenyan grannie can do this and that......
It's just one of those days when I think of 'grannie' and wanna talk about her...
I Love you mum, so so so so much, like I say with Kim, 'up to the moon and back'
AUSTRIA 2010
Mum came to visit us after Kimutai was born. It would have been much easier to go to Kenya, so that everyone gets to meet him, but we couldn't travel. It was around October and Winter was just kicking in. I saw mums face when we picked her up from the airport, she was so excited to see Kim, but when she saw the gloomy weather, she took one look at me and said 'Never again'! And I knew what that meant.
Anyway, we had a great time, exploring Austria and spending time with Kim. Kim could stand for the first time alone with mummy next to him. I have a video somewhere, will post at some point.
AUGUST 2006
This is the first time mama came to Austria. It was summer time and she had a blast. I didn't have that much of time to spend with her, but within the three months, she made more friends than I would in a year.
